Home-Based Care With Your Chosen and Trusted Caregiver
Every client has a different story, and with that, unique needs. And who understands those better than someone you already know and trust? Through Michigan’s Home Help Program, we offer the following services for eligible clients who choose to be cared for by a family member or friend caregiver.
Home Help Services
Many Michigan residents don’t realize they can be cared for by someone they know—or be paid for the care they already provide—through the Medicaid Home Help program. Guardian Home Care of MI helps clients and family or friend caregivers access these benefits and services.
Senior Care Services
Seniors can keep their independence while receiving care from someone they know and trust. Through the Home Help program, we guide family caregivers to support older adults with daily needs while preserving dignity, safety, and freedom.
Disability Care Services
Through the Home Help program, family caregivers provide trusted support for loved ones living with physical or mental disabilities. From mobility challenges to conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s, cerebral palsy, TBI, or schizophrenia, our goal is to help each person live with safety, dignity, and independence.

Steps To Receiving Home Care With a Family or Friend Caregiver

In-Home Assessment
The person receiving care gets assigned an Adult Service Worker who evaluates their home safety and determines how many hours they’re eligible for.

Onboarding of The Family Caregiver
We sign up the family or friend caregiver on CHAMPS, where state will initiate their background check. If they’re eligible, we send them an offer letter and access to a 6-hour online training.
Start of The Paid Care
The family caregiver can clock in and out when providing care and receive their pay weekly through direct deposit.
