AFL eligibility at a glance
Connecticut’s Adult Family Living program has requirements for both the person receiving care and the family caregiver.
The person receiving care
- Lives in Connecticut
- Has Connecticut Medicaid, or may qualify for it
- Needs help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, or meals
- Lives in the same home as their caregiver
The family caregiver
- A family member or trusted friend, 18 or older
- Lives in the same home as the person they care for
- Able to provide consistent, reliable care
- Generally not a spouse or other legally responsible relative
Medicare alone isn’t enough — AFL is a Connecticut Medicaid program. Not sure if your loved one qualifies? Check eligibility or call 475-290-0060.
Family caregiver first — with professional care if you need it
Most families start by getting a loved one paid through AFL. If no one in the home can provide care, our caregivers can step in.
